JOB DETAILS:

LOCATION:  Los Gatos 95032

SCHEDULE: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8-Hour Shifts

SALARY RANGE: $70-$100/hour, commensurate with experience

START DATE: October 2025

OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW:

Client is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and collaborative Radiation Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join new Los Gatos team. The RN will play a vital role in guiding patients through their course of radiation treatment – educating them about their care plan, managing side effects, coordinating with specialists, and advocating for patient needs. This role requires accountability for relationship-based care, strong communication with patients and families, and the ability to collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and the wider healthcare team. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, adaptable to new workflows, and eager to contribute to a supportive, team-based environment as client expands oncology services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides direct nursing care for radiation oncology patients, including assessment, symptom management, and education throughout the treatment course.
  • Conducts comprehensive patient assessments, addressing physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, and spiritual factors that may influence care.
  • Develops, implements, and revises individualized care plans in collaboration with providers, patients, and families.
  • Administers medications and treatments safely, monitoring and documenting any adverse reactions.
  • Educates patients and families on treatment plans, side effect management, medications, and self-care strategies.
  • Triages patient calls, symptoms, and urgent issues, escalating to physicians as appropriate.
  • Assists in preparing patients for simulation and treatment, ensuring appropriate documentation and understanding of procedures.
  • Coordinates follow-up appointments, labs, referrals, and imaging as directed by providers.
  • Monitors and documents treatment-related toxicities, collaborating with physicians on management strategies.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Supports compliance with safety, regulatory, and accreditation standards (e.g., ASTRO, ACR, CDPH).
  • Participates in tumor boards, multidisciplinary meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Upholds Clients mission, values, and culture by promoting compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s degree in nursing required; BSN preferred; (MSN a plus).
  • Current California RN license.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) preferred or willingness to obtain within two years.
  • 2+ years of nursing experience; radiation oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong patient education, assessment, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience in outpatient oncology, infusion, or radiation oncology practice.
  • Familiarity with treatment planning workflows, simulations processes, and side effect management.
  • Experience supporting accreditation and quality improvement programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
