School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT)
Job Summary
The School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT) provides therapeutic services to support students’ ability to participate in educational activities and daily school routines. The OT evaluates students’ functional abilities and delivers interventions that address fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and school-related tasks. Services are provided in collaboration with educators, administrators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support student success in the least restrictive environment.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct evaluations to assess students’ fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, and functional school skills

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
-
Provide direct therapy services in individual and group settings within the school environment

Support students’ participation in classroom activities, self-care, and school routines
-
Collaborate with special education staff, general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers
-
Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and multidisciplinary team meetings as required
-
Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, and IEP goals
-
Provide consultation and training to teachers, staff, and families to support carryover of skills
-
Recommend adaptive equipment, accommodations, and classroom modifications
-
Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed

Ensure compliance with district policies, state regulations, and professional standards
Required Qualifications
-
Master’s degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
-
Current Occupational Therapist license in the state of practice
-
NBCOT certification
-
Knowledge of special education laws and school-based therapy practices
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
-
Prior experience in a school-based or pediatric setting
-
Familiarity with IEP development and documentation
-
Experience working with students with special needs, including autism, developmental delays, and physical disabilities
