Whenever you want, you tell us! There’s no hard-and-fast rule regarding the best time to apply. We have worked with nurses who apply and take a year to decide to accept their first assignment. Then we have others who apply and whose bags are packed a few weeks or even days later. If you know you are ready to travel, or will be soon, we recommend you create an account and build out your profile so that you are prepared to punch your ticket and seize the right opportunity. If you want to chill, we’ll keep your information on file and stay in touch until you’re ready.
So glad you asked, this is our favorite part!! We will match you with an awesome recruiter or you can choose which you prefer to partner with! Your recruiter will create a professional profile, present opportunities, and get you submitted to as many jobs as your heart desires! Our Account Management team will then help facilitate an interview or an offer. Once you’ve signed an official contract (woo-hoo!!!), your dedicated credentialing specialist will contact you with the facility onboarding requirements. Then, after you’ve completed all the fun onboarding (which we know is your favorite part 😉) and have been cleared by the facility, our team will send out first-day instructions including everything you need to know for your first week. You will get paid weekly! Cha-Ching. Starting the second week of your assignment, we will send you your paycheck via direct deposit every Friday. The direct deposit time will vary depending on your bank and time zone.
Stipends are actually pretty cool! They are not taxed expense reimbursements to cover costs of lodging, meals, and incidentals for non-local travelers. The amount varies depending on city and state and is regulated by Uncle Sam. Contact one of our recruiters to learn more!
Yes, we pay you for orientation hours! Why wouldn’t we??? Your time is precious and you’re the one preparing for your assignment! Please record these hours on your timecard before submitting to our payroll department and we will include the pay in your next paycheck.
Yes! We offer comprehensive health, life, vision, and dental insurance plans and you can pick the best one for you (and your family!). Here’s the cool part, you can keep or pause these benefits for up to 30 days between assignments. Oh, and guess what?! In addition, you’ll have access to unlimited behavioral health sessions with a licensed counselor!
Did we mention you can also enroll in our 401k plan plus earn shares in our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Additional benefits include competitive compensation, travel bonuses for select assignments & referral bonuses.

Yes! We would love to talk to you about the benefits of this rewarding industry! One of the many benefits of traveling with IDR Healthcare is that we have built very strong relationships with our facilities, and because of this, most of our contracts do not require travel nursing experience.
No way, you can come and go as you please! Working with other agencies is cool, we just respectfully ask you to stay committed and finish your assignment with IDR. That being said, our goal is to never give you a reason to leave! We want to work with you forever and help you become vested in our ESOP!
Oh yeah! This is our ultimate goal and many facilities allow for contract extensions. If you love your destination and assignment, let your recruiter know that you are interested in extending. Your recruiter will provide support in requesting and accepting an extension for your current assignment. We recommend letting your recruiter know you'd like to extend your contract as soon as you know and before your original contract ends (even if it is the second week!!) Doing this helps increase the chances of receiving a contract extension from the healthcare facility.
License regulations vary by state, so before you begin your travel assignment, we'll help you verify which licenses or certifications you will need and will even reimburse you for it!
Heck yeah. We will reimburse you for all licenses and certifications required for your current travel assignment; it will be included in your first paycheck!
Simple, first, we want to maximize your tax-free stipends! Second, we will pay you as much as we can! We don’t exist without you, not to mention you are the one sacrificing and providing amazing patient care. You are appreciated and valued – you deserve the most possible!
Not cool, but hey it happens. When life gives you lemons, let’s make some lemonade! Your time is valuable, so we want to help you out! While you only get paid for hours worked (W2 Wage) you will still receive your stipends for the shift that the facility calls you off for. We just ask that you fill out this form within 2 weeks of your shift being canceled and we will include the amount on your next paycheck! Email it back to healthcaretimesheets@idr-inc.com
13 weeks is the industry standard, but with IDR Healthcare, you can choose anything from 8–26-week assignments based on availability and preference.
